Laura Hamilton is a Research Fellow in food and public health at the University of Hertfordshire. Her research focuses on young people’s food and eating practices in relation to health inequalities, income and poverty. Although she has a psychology background, Laura uses an inter-disciplinary social sciences approach, incorporating social theories of practice and behaviour change.
Prior to her role at the University of Hertfordshire, Laura completed her doctoral thesis at University College London. Her thesis examines the role of family income and other factors in understanding the food and eating practices of young people in the UK. Her doctoral research is linked to the multi-national ERC funded study ‘Families and Food in Hard Times’.
